DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police took two break-in suspects into custody early Wednesday morning but it wasn't easy to track them down.
Officers say 45-year-old David Anders and 36-year-old Christopher Redd broke into a vacant home on Henry Street and took some tools.
A neighbor heard some commotion at the house and called police.
Authorities got on scene and started searching for the men. Some people getting out of a car told officers they'd seen the two a short time before.
Police found them in an alley, but officers say the men dropped the stuff in their hands and took off running.
Later a K-9 unit was called out to help in the search, but eventually officers caught up to the pair on Ringgold Street.
Police credit neighbors with lending a hand to the long arm of the law.
"Can't do it without them," Sgt. Clarence West says. "We gotta have the citizens' cooperation and luckily a majority of citizens do cooperate."
Authorities say the two will likely face charges for breaking and entering and obstructing official business.
