ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR

WDTN-TV is accepting applications for an Assistant News Director.  This person will assist the news director in the overall management of the newsroom including oversee the staff and content of all newscast production.  This person will lead daily news coverage and newsroom meetings and serve as brand manager of the department. The Assistant News Director will work closely with producers, create unique shows through strong writing, showcasing graphics, anchor breakouts and reporter story telling.  The Assistant News Director will utilize social media, monitor scripts, order graphics, handle multiple tasks at once, handle other management duties when needed as well as participate in strategic planning.

The successful candidate must possess strong breaking news skills via web and on-air platforms, adept at quickly dispatching crews and believes in aggressively pursuing important news in viewing area.  This person must have strong writing and communication abilities and strong leadership and motivational skills.  Additionally, this person must work well under pressure and on deadline, be detail oriented and organized and have the ability to teach and train staff.  Qualified candidates must possess a four year undergraduate degree and have relevant supervisory experience.

DIGITAL DIRECTOR

WDTN-TV and Dayton’s CW has an immediate opening for a Digital Director. The Digital Director is responsible for the execution of a multi-platform news and content vision based on leveraging all aspects of digital media to reinforce our brands and manage the strategic digital operations of our sites, projects and initiatives. The Digital Director develops and manages the departmental budget, creates proposals for special projects and initiatives. Success in this role is dependent on the Digital Director’s leadership, editorial judgment as well as technical knowledge, data management systems and programming languages.

Digital experience preferred. College degree with a major in computer science, advertising, marketing and/or communications along with knowledge of digital marketing and trends is preferred. Must be an enthusiastic self-starter and passionate about the digital/web industry. The successful candidate will have the ability to visualize strategy in an ever-changing dynamic media landscape through behavioral analysis, customer need identification, business opportunity/challenge evaluation and investment/returns quantification. The successful candidate must also be able to maintain focus on key performance indicators as well as “big picture” results within a rapidly changing, dynamic environment. Must also have the ability to maintain presence and composure, adjust effectively to new technologies and have the ability to use appropriate interaction skills and methods to guide, train and educate individuals or groups to achieve results.
