DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Bomb Squad was called to Franklin Iron & Metal at 1939 E. First St. after an artillery shell was found Tuesday morning.

Workers were moving scrap metal when they made the discovery.

Officials said the shell measures 32 X 8 inches in diameter.

Police evacuated the homes along Burlington Avenue and closed First Street between Brenner Avenue and Findlay Street.

Officials are still trying to determine if the shell is "live."
