Man found dead outside apartments

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Police discovered the body of a man early Friday morning outside an apartment complex in the 19-hundred block of Grand Avenue.

He had a wound to the neck that authorities think is either from a knife or a gunshot.

Police had talked to the man a few days earlier, but say he wasn't in any trouble at that time.

A resident called police after hearing the man collapse outside their door. They told officers they'd heard him knock earlier but thought he was just a drunk.

Based on the blood trail they found, police think the man was injured at another location somewhere down the street, and then stumbled his way to the apartments.

Investigators are talking to neighbors to get an idea of what may have happened.
