DAYTON (WDTN) - A 5 year-old boy is recovering at Dayton Children's Medical Center, after he was tossed from the bed of a pick-up truck.

The accident happened on Manning Road in Miami Township on Monday, November 9.

According to Miami Township Deputy Chief John DiPietro, the boy was in the back of his mom's boyfriend's pickup.

He was rushed by Careflight to the hospital.

The boyfriend, 21 year-old, Ryan Lucas, was driving and went off the right side of the road and hit a mailbox.

He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving, but DiPietro said he could face additional charges in the future
