Fairborn, Ohio (WDTN) - 250 new jobs could be headed for the Dayton region after Fairborn-based, Peerless Technology, scored a big military contract.

Michael Bridges is the President of Peerless Technology. On Monday, January 11, he celebrated his company winning the multi-million dollar contract with the US Air Force and the impact it could have on the community.

"Outside of construction related efforts, these are the first private sector professional related jobs to head to the Dayton region as a result of the BRAC decision," said Bridges. "We believe that they are the first of many jobs coming to the Dayton region".

The new jobs could include IT support, laboratory technicians, researchers, doctors and nurses, molecular biologists and other support specialists.

Peerless Technology is one of six companies to be awarded a contract that will support the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, which is relocating to Wright Patt from a base in Texas as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure.

Congressman Mike Turner believes BRAC was a victory for the Dayton Region, retaining thousands of military jobs as well as 11 hundred new positions at Wright Patt.

"This is phase two of the BRAC opportunity," said Congressman Mike Turner. "We have the jobs that are coming to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, but this is the opportunity that businesses in our community have to be able to seek".

Other local leaders say Brac is just the beginning. Congressman Steve Austria suggests that other local contractors take advantage so the Miami Valley can grow both inside and outside the fence.

"I think we have a great opportunity as a result of 2005 BRAC," said Congressman Steve Austria. "We have some military and civilian jobs we expected, and then we have the opportunity to bring even more if we work together as a region".

Peerless Technology also received a $50 thousand-dollar state grant to retain 47 jobs and create an additional 42.
