Votto reactivated and ready to play

CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) - The Reds have activated first baseman Joey Votto off the disabled list, but he's still not ready to play every day.
Votto hadn't played since July 15 because of damaged cartilage in his left knee that required two operations. He had a rehab stint in Class A Dayton and Triple-A Louisville last week.
Votto wasn't in the lineup for a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
The 2010 NL MVP said the knee isn't fully back to normal, but he's getting better. Manager Dusty Baker says Votto might start on Wednesday.
How much the first baseman plays will depend upon how his knee feels each day. There's no rush to get him back -- Cincinnati led the NL Central by 8 1/2 games on Tuesday.
