CHARLOTTE, N.C.(WDTN) -
Five Flyers scored in double figures as Dayton earned its first Atlantic 10 road win of the year with an 88-67 victory over the Charlotte 49ers.
Devin Oliver recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Benson continued his strong play of late with 15 points and six rebounds.
Kevin Dillard went 7-of-7 at the free throw line to finish with 15 points. Dyshawn Pierre added 12 points, while Vee Sanford registered 13 points and five assists.
The Flyers improved to 15-12 overall and 5-8 in the conference. The 88 points scored was the second-highest output of the year for UD.
Khari Price returned after missing the last six games with a deep thigh bruise. He provided the spark UD needed with seven points on 2-of-2 shooting from 3-point range.
Dayton is now 8-0 this season when scoring 75 or more points. The Flyers also snapped a seven-game Atlantic 10 road losing streak dating back to last season.
Dayton trailed Charlotte at the half, 34-29, getting out-scored 9-3 over the last 2:05. The Flyers committed 10 turnovers in the first half.
However, in the second half, the Flyers got hot shooting the basketball converting 15 of its first 20 field goal attempts. Dayton finished the game shooting 62 percent from the field and 24-of-30 at the free throw line.
Charlotte was led by 17 points from Darion Clark. The 49ers drop to 18-9 overall and 6-7 in the A-10.
