LONDON, England (WDTN) - You must admit that Olympic organizers are creative when it comes to promoting the Summer Olympics.
They actually hired a team of six horses to mow the Olympic Rings into the grass at Richmond Park in London.
It is 980 feet wide and 443 feet tall! Why so big, you ask? The rings are on the flight path at Heathrow Airport, there to welcome visitors and athletes to the 2012 Olympic Games.
"The Olympic Rings are an iconic symbol, inspiring athletes and uniting people around the world. To athletes they represent the culmination of thousands of hours of training and reaching the highest level in sport. These Rings will excite and inspire visitors coming to London," said Seb Coe, LOCOG Chair.
The Royal Park horses are used to mowing images into the grass. They've done it many times over the years. Horses, Jim and Murdoch, are in charge of maintaining the grass rings throughout the games.
The amateur youth soccer tournament is one of the largest in the country.
