DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A long season of sports play paid off Tuesday for the winner of the 2012 Penn Station Athlete of the Year.

The new Penn Station Athlete of the Year is Kyle Hamlin from Bethel High School.

Kyle receives a $5,000 college scholarship.  Kyle plans to attend Grace University in Indiana.  He hasn't chosen a major quite yet, but is considering either Math of Engineering.  His 4.0 GPA in high school should easily help him reach his goal.

Eight student athletes were honored this year, leading up to Tuesday's big announcement. All excel on the field and in the classroom.

Congratulations to Kyle and to all the athletes.

WDTN is proud to sponsor the Penn Station Athlete of the Month program each year.
