PITTSBURGH, Pa -
Five Flyers scored in double figures as Dayton defeated the Duquesne Dukes on the road 74-62.

Paul Williams led Dayton with 18 points, while Matt Kavanaugh recorded his second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Chris Johnson finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, Josh Parker scored 12 and Kevin Dillard had 11 points.

The victory improves Dayton’s record to 17-10 overall and 7-6 in the Atlantic 10. Duquesne drops to 15-12 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

The Flyers scored the first six points of the second half for a 39-30 lead, but the Dukes would later soar to 10 straight points with the help of UD turnovers and defensive breakdowns for a three-point lead.

But the Flyers out-scored their hosts, 19-6, over a nine-minute stretch for a 66-56 lead with 2:40 to go. Most of the points came in transition off turnovers or missed shots.

At the free throw line, the Flyers were once again stellar shooting 14-of-16 (87.5 percent). Dayton also led in rebounding holding a 41-24 advantage.

Ten of those rebounds came from Devin Oliver, who made his second start of the season. Oliver's 10 rebounds were a career-high and he finished with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Williams finished the game 6-of-6 at the free throw line and shot 5-for-11 from the field. Kavanaugh shot 5-of-7 from the floor and had four of his 11 rebounds on the offensive end.

After losing 83-73 in the first matchup at UD Arena, the Flyers played much better defensively. UD limited Duquesne to 4-of-21 shooting from three-point range (19 percent). In the first meeting, the Dukes connected on 12-of-23 shots from beyond the arch (53 percent).

UD returns home to face the Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. ET.
