AMHERST, Mass. -
Vee Sanford led the Dayton Flyers with 14 points, but UD fell again on the road, 76-66 to the Massachusetts Minutemen.

Off the bench, Josh Benson scored 12 and Jalen Robinson added 10 as Dayton dropped to 14-12 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

UMass closed the game on a 12-4 run in the final 4:05. The Minutemen improved to 17-9 overall and 7-6 in the A-10. Dayton shot 1-of-5 from the floor and hit only 2-of-4 free throw attempts in the final four minutes of play.

UD was out-rebounded 36-27 and shot just 3-of-11 from beyond the arc. The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Minutemen who allowed just six points from the Flyers in the final eight minutes of play.

The Flyers remained winless away from home in conference action with their sixth consecutive defeat. Dayton had not started 0-6 on the road in conference play since the 2005-06 campaign when UD lost its first seven.

Sanford made four steals, shot 6-of-10 from the field and dished out four assists. The Flyers shot 50 percent from the field overall.

Other contributors for the Flyers included Kevin Dillard with eight points and six assists, Matt Derenbecker scoring nine and Dyshawn Pierre adding eight rebounds.

Dayton continues the two-game road swing on Wednesday, Feb. 27 against the Charlotte 49ers. Tip is at 7 p.m. ET.
