KINGSTON, R.I. -
Dyshawn Pierre recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but the Dayton Flyers suffered another heartbreaking loss to the Rhode Island Rams, 75-72.

Four Flyers scored in double figures with Kevin Dillard adding 15 points and five assists, Devin Oliver chipping in with 12 points and Vee Sanford scoring 11.

Xavier Munford made a long 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left to give Rhode Island the victory. Dillard had made a deep 3-pointer with 8.8 seconds left to tie the game, capping a rally from an eight-point deficit.

But Munford, the Atlantic 10’s second-leading scorer, caught the inbounds pass and dribbled up the sideline. He pulled up with two defenders in his face and knocked it down. Dillard could only get off a rushed 3-pointer before the buzzer.

Dayton dropped to 13-11 overall and 3-7 in the Atlantic 10. The Flyers remained winless on the road during conference play dropping its first five away from UD Arena. The Rams (7-16, 2-9) ended a six-game losing streak.

Rhode Island, who came into the ball game averaging 61 points per game, shot 10-of-22 from three-point range.

Dayton got off to a hot start on offense and opened up a 17-8 lead, out-muscling Rhode Island inside. But the Flyers couldn’t keep the pace going and trailed 32-31 at the half.

Jalen Robinson added seven points and nine rebounds, while Devon Scott added six points and three boards. Pierre shot 6-of-11 from the floor.

Up next for Dayton is a home game against the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday at noon ET.
