Flyers Baseball Season Comes to an End

DAYTON-OH - DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Flyers fell to the Xavier Musketeers in the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championships 11-3 dashing hopes of their first Atlantic 10 baseball title in school history.


The Flyers finish the season with a 38-19 record, the program’s best finish since its inception.

Eric Wagner pitched 4.1 innings allowing four earned runs and three walks against Xavier. Sean Finn tossed 2.1 innings, with one punchout, one hit batter and six earned runs. Mike Hauschild pitched the final 1.1 innings, finishing the day with one strikeout and zero earned runs.

Zach Jacob turned in a 3-for-4 day for the Flyers. Jacob tied for second in the single-season hit category notching his 79th hit of the season. He also added one double for UD.

Marshall MacDonald drove in one run in a 1-for-3 day at the plate. Jonathan Castine ripped a solo home run to right field in the top of the eighth inning.

Dunwoody ripped a triple in the top of the second inning driving home Roesinger for the first run of the game for the Red and Blue.

MacDonald doubled to the gap in right center field scoring Zach Jacob as Dayton pulled ahead 2-0.

The Musketeers used a three runs to pull ahead of the Flyers crossing the plate four times in total over the third and fourth innings.

Dayton will now await Monday’s selection show at 12:30 pm ET on ESPN in hopes of snagging one of the few bids remaining into the NCAA Regionals.
