ATLANTA (WDTN) - Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Andre Smith was arrested Thursday in Atlanta after police said he tried to bring a gun onboard an airplane.
Police say they found a .380 caliber handgun on Smith when he tried to board a plane at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport, according to NBCSports.com and WCPO-TV . The gun was inside Smith's carry-on luggage.
Smith is charged with carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location. He appeared in court Friday morning and was released on a $3,000 bond.
Smith, 25, a resident of Birmingham, Ala., was a first-round pick in 2009.
