4 Local Athletes Get Drafted into NFL

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - One single phone call can change a man's life. David Bruton was the first of four fomer Miami Valley high school football stars to get a call on the second day of the NFL draft.

Bruton held a draft party in his hometown of Miamisburg and didn't have to wait too long before getting selected in the fourth round by the Denver Broncos with the 114th overall pick.
Bruton, a free safety who played his college ball at Notre Dame becomes the first Miamisburg Viking to ever get drafted into the NFL.

A couple of former Wayne Warriors we also drafted on Sunday, defensive back Mike Mickens out of UC was taken in the 7th round by the Dallas Cowboys. Linebacker Marcus Freeman out of Ohio State was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round with the 154th overall selection.
Freeman is considered one of the most versatile linebackers in the country having played all 3 linebacker positions with the Bucks.

Former Chaminade Julienne running back Jevon Ringer was drafted in the fith round by the Tennessee Titans.


Ringer who led the CJ Eagles to a high school state football championship, finished his career at Michigan State as the school's all time second leading rusher.
