SPRINGBORO, OH (WDTN) - Some Centerville parents are sharing a whole new world with their baby daughter, thanks to their quick response to concerns about her development.

Here's what you need to know about the benefits of early intervention. "She used to struggle with frustration when she couldn't speak and we couldn't understand her and her needs. Now with her combination of words and her six to ten word vocabulary, it has decreased frustration in the house." says Emily's mother Jody Underwood.

Jody brought Emily to Dayton Children's Medical center for speech therapy after realizing she wasn't meeting developmental milestones.

Now Jody is seeing big changes in her daughter. "Her interaction with other kids is markedly better. She doesn't initiate sentences. However she knows they communicate verbally, so she understands what they say and pays attention to their verbal interaction. "

Early intervention played a big role in Emily's progress. Not only is she building up her vocabulary, her socialization is improving as well.
