DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - 2 NEWS Today has 5 things you need to know for Thursday, January 24, 2013.

The first meeting of the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission will be held this morning. It was created after the tragic shooting in December. The group will be asked to the make recommendations on school safety, mental health and gun violence prevention.

Closing arguments are expected to begin today in the trial of a Piqua man charged in the death of a 4-year-old girl.

Today the National Transportation Safety Board will give an update on its investigation into the fire aboard 787 Dreamliner.

A sub restaurant is opening in Beavercreek. DiBella's Old Fashioned Submarines is located on Zink Road off Colonel Glenn Highway. The first 30 customers in line by 10 a.m. get free subs for a year.

The University of Dayton women's basketball team will hit the court for an 11 tip against George Washington.
