KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - The Romney campaign is scrambling to deal with the affects of Hurricane Sandy on its presidential campaign.
One communications director canceled all events with this statement to 2 NEWS:
"Out of sensitivity for the millions of Americans in the path of Hurricane Sandy, we are canceling tonight's events with Governor Romney in Wisconsin and Congressman Ryan in Melbourne and Lakeland, Florida. We are also canceling all events currently schedule for both Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan on Tuesday. Governor Romney believes this is a time for the nation and its leaders to come together to focus on those Americans who are in harms way. We will provide additional details regarding Governor Romney's and Congressman Ryan's schedule when they are available." -- Gail Gitcho, Romney Communications Director
The Ohio communications director tells 2 NEWS the event at Trent Arena will go on Tuesday, only now it will be a disaster relief rally. It is unclear right now whether Governor Romney will be at the event. Organizer will only say right now that he "may make brief remarks". They encourage attendees to bring disaster relief supplies to the event.
Romney was scheduled to make a stop at Kettering's Trent Arena Tuesday afternoon.
