Moraine, Ohio (WDTN) - Plans were announced Tuesday morning for the future of the former GM Moraine Assembly plant.
IRG officials unveiled their plans to rename the facility Progress Park and develop it into several of smaller spaces they will adapt to meet tenants needs.
IRG said they have interest from several potential companies, but declined to release names until the deals are complete.
"This redevelopment plan brings Moraine one step closer to renewing the site's reputation as the manufacturing anchor of the Miami Valley," said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown. "When local, state, and federal officials work together, we're able to attract businesses that bring good-paying jobs. With that kind of continued cooperation, we'll be able to come back stronger than ever."
The plant has been vacant since 2008. At its height, as many as 20,000 people worked there.
IRG anticipates 1,000 to 2,000 new jobs as a result of the site's redevelopment.
