DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - It is time to start thinking about heating your home for winter.

The enrollment period for the Home Energy Assistance Program in Ohio started Monday.

The program helps income-eligible customers pay their gas bills with state and federal money.

Call the Dayton Community Action Partnership at 341-5000 or the Ohio Department of Development at 1-800-282-0880.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's reconnection program is also underway.

It helps income-eligible people restore their heating at a fraction of the cost.

Contact PUCO at 800-686-7826 for more information on that program.
