Heat Advisory in effect until 8 p.m.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a heat advisory which is in effect from noon today to 8 pm edt this evening.

Temperatures are forecast to rise into the lower to mid 90s across the advisory area with dewpoints in the lower 70s.

This will allow heat index values to rise to between 100 and 104 degrees during the afternoon hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

  • A heat advisory is issued when high humidities are expected to combine with hot temperatures to make it feel like it is 100 degrees or greater.
  • Persons in the advisory area are advised to avoid prolonged work in sun, or in poorly ventilated areas.
  • Also, keep plenty of liquids on hand and try to stay in an air conditioned environment.
