FoodBank volunteers give away food

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - 264 families have a table full of food thanks to your generous donations.

Volunteers lined up at the FoodBank in Dayton to pass out food to people in need.

They got a firsthand look at where their donations go.

For folks like Tressie Hardrick, the food is the answer to her prayers.

"Right now, I just had a daughter that passed away a couple of weeks ago and I have my grandchildren ages 3 and 7 and right now, I'm at the point that I'm on a fixed income, so i don't have any money and so this is really a blessing to me," said Hardrick.

Hardrick is one of 264 families to get help at this event made possible by the Hope Foundation of Greater Dayton, Vineyard Church, The Foodbank and CareSource.

"Statistics that we work from are that 40 percent of people in Montgomery County, 35 in Preble and 30 in Greene qualify for what we do," said Scott Silver of the Hope Foundation of Greater Dayton.

Sliver says this is just one of several stops they make this month helping to feed a total of 700 families.

S.T. Reddrick ended up here at the Vineyard Church after another program we were covering ran out of food.

As he was pulling away disappointed, we told him about this event.

Like everyone in line, Reddrick left with bags full of food, chicken, fruits, vegetables, bread and perhaps most significant, peace of mind.
"One thing is for sure, i know that i will be eating. I will be eating, can't ask for too much more than that," said Reddrick.

If you need help, the Vineyard Church on North Main Street in Dayton, offers assistance on the last Thursday of every month.
