DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police need your help in solving the mysterious case of a paralyzed grandfather found strangled and stabbed in his vehicle just before Christmas 2010.

William Boykin was baptized at the age of 66, just one month before his death.

His younger brother, Paul, a pastor at a local church, performed the ceremony.  "He was getting his life right, just like we all are when we get to this age," said Paul Boykin.

On the morning of December 22, Boykin's body was found in his minivan, parked at the back of an abandoned lot on Ferguson Avenue in Dayton.

Investigators say he was stabbed multiple times and had a ligature tied around his neck.

"We never thought something like this would happen.  Like I said, it had to be someone he knew, he trusted, because he just didn't associate with anybody.  It had to be someone he knew."

Family members say surgery on Boykin's back a few years ago left him paralyzed and it seemed people often tried to prey on his handicap.

Call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867 if you have any information about this crime.
