FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - The 445th Airllift wing welcomed a new plane to its inventory Saturday at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

It hosted a C-17 Welcome Ceremony to mark the event.

The wing is switching over from using the C-5A Galaxy aircraft to the C-17 Globemaster III. The C-17 is the newest, most flexible cargo plane to enter the Air Force.

WPAFB currently has four C-17s in action, another four are expected by the end of 2012.

Retired Congressman, David Hobson, was among the ceremony's welcoming event.
