RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - Firefighters pulled a woman from her submerged car at an eastern Indiana lake soon after she called for help, saying she was trapped inside.
Richmond police say 51-year-old Kathy Tiemann of Richmond was taken to an Indianapolis hospital, where she was on a ventilator Thursday.
The Palladium-Item reports that emergency crews rushed to Middlefork Reservoir after the 911 call that came during a heavy downpour late Wednesday but that it wasn't clear has the car ended up in the water at the end of a boat ramp.
Fire battalion chief Tim Brown says two firefighters went immediately to the completely submerged car, but two others with scuba air tanks had to enter the water to free the woman.
