DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - WDTN-TV's very own Pam Elliot got a surprise Thursday morning at work when Cindy Antrican, a representative of AAA, showed up at the station with a plaque recognizing her and her dog Buddy as the winners of a media "Cutest Pet" contest.
AAA called on media "pet parents" to send in photos of themselves with their pets in conjunction with the launch of their PetSpot website. Pam and Buddy were chosen in the Dayton market. AAA will be announcing other winners in Cincinnati and Hartford, Connecticut.
PetSpot will be a site where people can find out more about traveling with pets. There will be travel tips as well as pet friendly hotels and destinations listed.
Friday in downtown Dayton at the AAA office located at 825 S. Ludlow from 9 a.m. to noon there will be a number of activities for people and their pets. Pam and Buddy will be the grand marshals of the parade that is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Pam and Buddy have been together for two years. Her daughter Hope really wanted a Chihuahua and they found Buddy up for adoption at Greene County Animal Control. He had been a stray. They brought him home in August of 2010 and since then they've adopted another dog, this one a dachshund mix, which Hope named Bacon. Bacon was also a stray and was in the care of SICSA, The Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals.
