CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) - A semi driver lost control of his rig on State Route 4 and 54 in Champaign County around 11 p.m. Monday , Dec 4.
When Pleasant Township Fire crews arrived all they could do was spray water on what was left of the 18-wheeler that was empty other than a few metal skids.
Investigators told 2 NEWS that the unidentified driver was headed south bound on State Route 4, lost control, veered off the left side of the road crashing through a guard rail before coming to rest in a creek bed.
But according to Pleasant Township Fire Chief Mike Willis, this tragic traffic story had a miraculous ending.
"From what we know some one from a house down the street went a head a they got down here and they pulled the driver from the wreckage and got him out of there before it burst into flames, Willis said.
There's been no word on the condition of the male driver as investigators continue their search for cause of the crash.
