ST. MARYS, Ohio (WDTN) - Police were forced to shoot a suspect they said was threatening to shoot people in St. Marys late Wednesday night.

2 NEWS was first on the scene outside the home on Derrick and Oil Streets. That's where officials told us a man called 911 and said he would shoot someone.

Officers went to the home some time after 11 p.m.

A fight broke out between the suspect and police. It's unclear if the suspect fired shots at officials, but he did have a gun.

A St. Marys officer fired his gun, hitting the suspect, who was taken to a nearby hospital.

We're told the suspect's injuries were not life threatening.

An officer was hurt during the fight, but was treated on the scene.
