DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The state's smoking ban reaches new heights in the Dayton region and it was something worth celebrating.

Mongtomery county and city officials launched 186 balloons in recognition of the 186 lives that have been saved as a result of the passage of "Smoke Free Ohio".

But health officials warned there are still more lives that could be saved.

They said Over 20-percent oh Ohio adults continue to smoke. 18,500 Ohioans will die this year from their own smoking.

Some business owners remain critical of the law, but a new American Cancer Society survey shows more than 70 percent of Ohioans support the ban.
