MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN-TV) - Volunteers at Wings Over the Rainbow bird rescue are standing behind the quality of care birds received there.

The Humane Society removed more than 150 birds from the rescue Thursday.

Officials said the bird were kept in horrible conditions. They said mice were found inside the rescue.

Volunteers admitted that there was a pest problem, but said other than that the birds were "properly cared for."

The owner was so distraught after the birds were taken that she had to be hospitalized.
