DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Vectren Energy's Workers Union of America Local 175 employee voted Friday afternoon to ratify a new three-year contract.

UWUA Local 175 represents nearly 130 of Vectren’s natural gas employees in the greater Dayton area.

The previous contract expired October 31. The employees rejected the original three-year proposal on November 16 at which time they were not permitted to continue working. Both parties met with a federal mediator on Monday, November 26 to come up with the tentative agreement which was approved Friday by union members.

Those employees will return to work on Monday.

Vectren delivers natural gas to approximately 315,000 customers in all or portions of Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Highland, Logan, Madison, Miami, Montgomery, Pickaway, Preble, Shelby and Warren counties.
