SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - New federal resources have been awarded to two local airports in the Miami Valley by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday.
The City of Springfield will use the federal funds to rehabilitate the Clark County Aiport runway and purchase new snow removal equipment at the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport. The Clark County Airport will receive a $302,946 grant to complete the project.
"Springfield-Beckley Airport provides important travel services to area small businesses, recreational pilots, and visitors," Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said. "This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for the county."
The Sidney Municipal Airport will receive a $624,581 grant in FAA funding as well. The airport in Shelby County will be used to acquire new land and evaluate the runway.
