BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - Cory has spent the last week in a hospital bed fighting for his life. Now, friends and family hold on to hope that he can recover. Classmates remember Cory Lundy as a play maker on the football field. A receiver for Beavercreek High School, his talent even won him a 2 Sports OPPY award for best play of the year. Lundy's coach, Scott Clodfelter says he was skillful on the gridiron.
"He's a really good receiver with good hands. He was one of our better blockers last year."
With a promising future, Lundy's life took a drastic turn last Friday night after he lost control of his pick-up truck. His truck went down an embankment and he was trapped for 45 minutes on Shakertown road. Lundy was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital where he underwent brain and intestinal surgery. Clodfelter, says hearing the news of the accident was a shock.
"You never know when something is going to happen so you have to give one hundred percent no matter what you're doing."
Classmates are remembering Lundy with a sign on a fence just outside the football stadium. There's also a Facebook group called "I Am Praying For Cory Lundy." Clodfelter says many people have left heart felt messages on his wall as well as uploaded several pictures of him in order to show their support.
"With the outpouring of support I know the parents are impressed with the amount of people that care about him. That's the kind of guy he is, draws people to him."
The Facebook page is open to the public and anyone can join and post their well wishes here:
