KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Drivers are zig-zagging through city streets and highways to avoid potholes.
2News found Kettering road crews making sure your car doesn't need major repairs from a pothole.
Drivers like Hank Damewood are happy the work is being done.
Damewood said, "I think it's worse this winter since we had more snow and a bad February."
Damewood hasn't rolled over a deep enough crater to cause him problems.
"I've been lucky that it hasn't ruined my car. This stretch on Wilmington really has a lot of them."
But, Perry Edwards hasn't been so lucky.
Edwards said, "I have run over every pot hole in the city."
Edwards wishes he had Hank's luck.
He said he now needs to get his car fixed from all the bumping.
Edwards said, "I'm actually, after work today, going to take my car to have the anti -ock breaks looked at. It kicks in every time I ride through Kettering."
Kettering road crews could be seen on Whipp Road Wednesday patching the potholes with hot asphalt.
Greg Moore says they scoop, spread and patch the holes as quickly as possible.
Moore said, "They're a little deeper than what they have been in the past."
Moore says fixing the large craters is his first priority.
He said, "Right now, that's what we're worried about is some of the big ones. We call them the axle busters. The ones that are going to cause motorists the most problems."
Moore says his crews are working as fast at they can, but he also warns of a hidden danger.
He said, "If you went over it today and it was a pothole, and you went over it the next day and it seems patched, drive over it slow the next day because it certainly can pop back out again."
Moore said he had three crews on the streets Wednesday.
He plans on having five crews on Thursday to get the job done.
