AUGLAIZE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) - Emergency officials in Auglaize County said two tornados touched down there on Wednesday, while a second line of storms left some throughout the Miami Valley without power.
Auglaize residents Ron and Margaret Hunter took pictures of the damage done when the first line of strong storms moved through around 1 p.m.
After doing a fly over inspection, the Auglaize County EMA Director reported two spots east of Kossuth that showed tornado-like damage.
The National Weather Service will do its own evaluation.
Hours later a second line of storms brought bolts of lightning and booms of thunder to the area.
At one point 14,000 people were without power, according to Dayton Power and Light officials. That number was down to 1,600 by 5 a.m. Thursday.
The power outages left intersections dark in Moraine, West Carrollton and Washington Township, leading some to put up temporary stop signs.
Dayton Power and Light crews spent the night trying to restore power, getting the lights back on near the intersection of Spring Valley and McEwen Roads around 5:30 a.m.
