LAKEWAY, Texas (KXAN) - A Chicken Express employee faces an assault charge against a Lakeway police officer after an alleged altercation happened in the parking lot of the restaurant.

A court affidavit shows that just after 8 p.m., off-duty Officer Steve Adams noticed a couple in the back seat of a car at 2109 RR 620 South on Oct. 27.

Adams said he saw Jesus Hernandez Jimenez, 20, of Lakeway holding a woman down as she screamed “Stop” and “Get off me.”

Adams said he grabbed Jimenez to pull him off the woman but that Jimenez then pushed him away.

After Adams identified himself as a police officer, he said he ordered Jimenez to the ground, putting a pair of handcuffs on one of Jimenez’ wrists and telling the man he was under arrest.

The court document continues with Jimenez allegedly running toward Adams and hitting him several times in the head with his fists. Adams then reportedly pulled out his pistol and ordered Jiminez to the ground again.

Jimenez allegedly got back into the car and put it in gear as Adams tried to gain access to the vehicle. Adams said the suspect then drove in reverse and fled the scene.

"Officer Adams seems to be doing well," said Lakeway Lt. David Crowder. "I know he's back at work, doing his regular duties."

Meanwhile, police and the restaurant’s on-duty manager reportedly watched surveillance video captured inside the restaurant just before the incident and identified Jimenez as an employee there.

Police arrested Jimenez at his home and is still in the Travis County Jail on two bonds totaling $75,000.

Jimenez faces felony counts of assault on a police officer and evading arrest.
