DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Storm team 2 meteorologist Brandon Redmond and a few members of SWAT (Severe Weather Alert Team) were in the plains chasing this weekend's tornado outbreak.  They saw several tornadoes but it wasn't until they went to Wichita, Kansas were they got a little closer than they wanted to.

The team was tracking a storm that had already produced a tornado in Oklahoma.  The storm was heading for Wichita and they decided to head that way.  The sun had set and it was difficult to see the structure of the thunderstorm.  Redmond lost radar data and was stuck on a poor road network.  They were hoping to set up on the safe side of the storm but it made a turn and with no radar data they drove straight into it.

They slammed on the breaks as debris flew by them and the car lifted slightly off the ground for a few seconds.  Amazingly no one was hurt and the car saw only minor damage.
