MASON, Ohio (WDTN) - The infamous Son of Beast roller coaster at Kings Island is coming down for good.

The idle coaster hasn't run the rails since 2009.  It had several mishaps and mechanical problems over the years, one in 2006 ended with several park patrons injured.

The Son of Beast was the longest and fastest wooden roller coaster ever built at the time of its debut.

Park spokesperson, Jim Helbig, says the demolition will make room for future park development.
