DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A civil rights group believes that Sinclair Community College violated a student's right to free speech.
The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education says a student was barred from distributing literature on campus about abortion, cancer and birth control.
The group said it sent a letter to Sinclair's president in February asking for a change in the school policy.
The group says the college's counsel replied in a letter last month pointing out a section of school policy banning distribution of literature in classrooms and other working areas of campus.
Sinclair general counsel Lauren Ross said Wednesday that the student distributed the fliers in a classroom.
The civil rights group says the student did not disrupt class and the college's policy should be changed.
