DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Sidney man was sentenced Friday to 84 months in federal prison for possessing more than 12,000 images of child pornography.
Carson Trader, age 62, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography on September 18, 2008.
According to prosecutors, ICE agents went to Trader’s residence on March 6, 2007 as part of a follow-up to a child pornography investigation originating in Michigan. The agents asked to search Trader’s computer where they found child pornography.
Further examination of the computer at the Miami Valley Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory found that Trader possessed more than 12,000 images of child pornography, including material depicting sadistic and masochistic conduct and other images depicting violence involving minors. Trader had downloaded some images over the Internet and acquired other images by trading with individuals online.
After his release from prison, Trader will be placed under lifetime court supervision. He will also be required to register as a sexual offender in any jurisdiction where he lives, works or is a student and to register with his new jurisdiction within three days if he moves. Trader was ordered by the Court to obtain sex offender treatment while incarcerated and during his supervised release from prison. He must also perform 100 hours of community service and was ordered to have no to contact with minor children.
