RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) - A bill introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives would allow students to make up snow days by doing work online.
House Bill 407 is being talked about in committee. It would give schools another option for getting back missed days instead of just extending the school year.
Students would have two weeks to complete homework online under the proposal or if they don't have Internet access they could pick up hard copies at the school.
Making up calamity days will be an issue for many area schools this year. Some have missed as many as nine days. The state only allows five before the days have to be made up.
Next year that allowance of five days will drop to three. The online proposal would help some schools worried about having to schedule make-up days on Saturdays or during Spring Break when many families make plans.
