DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Several school districts in the Miami Valley are on target to receive state funds to improve schools.
The Ohio School Facilities Commission approved funding for 25 school districts, including Celina City Schools, National Trail in New Paris, Greenon Local Schools and the Dayton Regional STEM School.
The funds total $1.1-billion in state and local funds. The districts must acquire their local share of project budgets within 13-months to receive the state funds.
The funding awards depend on the State's Controlling Board approval.
Greenon hopes the $22-million state cash flow will be used for construction of the district's new PK-6 building and a new Grades 7-12 building with career tech space. The total project budget is $56,321,335, with the state share being $22,528,534 and the local share being $33,792,801.
Celina also plans to use its $8-million state cut to build a new K-3 school building.
National Trail's $600,000 share will be part of a $1 million project to replace the roof of the elementary/middle school addition to the K-12 building.
The Dayton Regional STEM School will use its $4.3-million state funds to help renovate its current building.
