COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State University, the largest university in the U.S., wants to expand its international reach through satellite offices, starting in China, India and Brazil.

University President Gordon Gee says what the school calls "global gateways" will help students, as well as Ohio citizens and businesses, compete successfully in the world economy.

Under plans shown to university trustees on Wednesday, Ohio State would not open campuses overseas but instead lease office space that could be used for recruiting more international students and by professors and students studying or doing research abroad.

A gateway in Shanghai, China, is expected to open next summer, with locations in Mumbai, India, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, to follow in the next two years.
