DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Art Institute announced Monday that more than 44,000 people attended the popular special exhibition American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell, which closed on Sunday, February 5, after a successful three-month run.
The final two weekends of the exhibition saw more than 7,000 people visit The Dayton Art Institute. The final attendance figure of more than 44,000 people is the most for a special exhibition at The Dayton Art Institute since Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art in 2006.

American Chronicles, organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, featured 42 original Norman Rockwell paintings and a complete set of all 323 Saturday Evening Post covers created by Rockwell.
The Dayton Art Institute’s 2012 special exhibition schedule continues this spring with Changing Landscapes: Contemporary Chinese Fiber Art and Maya Lin: Flow, both opening March 24. In addition, the exhibition Inside the Box opens April 28 in the museum’s family gallery, the Experiencenter. This fall, The Dayton Art Institute will present Stephen Knapp: Lightpaintings, on view October 6 – January 6, 2013.
