XENIA, Ohio (Xenia Daily Gazette) - Greene County residents can expect to see white vans occupied by photographers making rounds through their neighborhoods on Tuesday, Jan. 24, as the Greene County Auditor’s countywide property-imaging project begins.
According to Greene County Auditor David Graham, the project is part of the county’s 2014 general reassessment of property values. The photos taken will be used to update the images at the Greene County Auditor’s website and verify and correct address discrepancies. They will also be used by first responders who require immediate property recognition in an emergency setting. The photos’ main purpose, however, will be to provide appraisers with accurate data when they tackle the task of establishing property values for all real property and parcels within the county.
“The photos will allow us to see if a property is comparable to the property next door,” said Graham.
The collection of data will be handled by Tyler Technologies, Inc., a Dayton-based company that provides assistance to assessors, tax administrators and tax collectors at state and local government agencies. Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 24, Tyler Technologies field staff will load up into customized white vans and hit the streets of Greene County, photographing several different pieces of property as they go. The county, says Graham, has a good, long-running business relationship with Tyler Technologies, Inc.
“We’ve contracted with Tyler Technologies ever since I’ve been with the Greene County Auditor’s Office,” said Graham. “It’s a relationship that’s worked well in the past. I’ve worked with Tyler Technologies for the last few years, going back to when I was chief deputy to the auditor. I’m happy with the work they’ve done.”
Tyler Technology field will be among Greene County resident for eight to 10 weeks, weather permitting. The detailed, high-resolution photos, says Graham, will be noninvasive and will not violate the privacy of Greene County residents.
“They are street level photos,” said Graham. “We’re not going to be photographing backyards or anything like that.”
Readers wishing to learn more about the property-imaging project are encouraged to contact the Greene County Auditor’s Office at 937-562-5065.
