DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Budget cuts at the post office could mean one less trip to the mailbox for you.
The Post office is considering cutting back home delivery to five days a week by eliminating Tuesday or Saturday service.
The agency is in the red due to billions of dollars in payments for retired workers' health insurance.
Online billing has also taken a big chunk out of the bottom line.
Some customers think the cutbacks are a great idea.
Post office customer, George Moore said, "To me that makes sense. I mean, we are talking about tax dollars being spent and does it really have to be open on Saturday? I really can't imagine it being that big a deal."
Others aren't so sure about the idea.
Post office customer, Dorothy Douglas said, "I really don't want them to cut back again. I get a lot of mail for me and my father."
The postmaster also wants to move services to pharmacies and grocery stores to cut down on building costs.
The plan still needs to be approved by the postal commission.
