More to miss Kasich's 'State' speech

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine latest to cancel

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - By JULIE CARR SMYTH, Associated Press

Add two Ohio statewide officials to the list of those unlikely to attend Gov. John Kasich's relocated State of the State speech.

Already, Ohio Supreme Court justices have said they can't make the three-hour car trip to Steubenville because court is in session that day in Columbus.

Now, their spokespeople tell The Associated Press that Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine can't go and Secretary of State Jon Husted has a schedule conflict.

On Tuesday, Kasich will become the first governor in history to hold the year's big policy speech outside the Statehouse. He has picked the award-winning Wells Academy as the venue.

Despite some opposition to the move in the Ohio House, spokesman Mike Dittoe says he doesn't know of any members who won't be there.
