VANDALIA (WDTN) - A Vandalia Police Officer is taken to the hospital, after slamming her cruiser into a car.

Investigators say the officer had her lights on and siren blaring as she approached the intersection of National Road and Dixie Drive. Everyone yielded.. except for the driver of one car.

Sgt. Gary Jackson of the Vandalia Police Department told 2News, "Anytime you approach the interesection where other traffic is stopped in the same direction, there's probably a reason for that. You need to be alert, be aware of what's going on in the intersection."

Both drivers went to the hospital to be checked out. No word on charges at this time.
