MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - Tuesday will be golden in Kayla Harrison's hometown.

Middletown is rolling out the red carpet for its Olympic gold medalist.

Harrison became the first-ever American to win a gold medal in judo in London.

Red, white and blue were flying all over the city as American flags were raised in her honor Monday.

Middletown workers also spent the day sprucing up the parks to the streets for Tuesday's big celebration.

"A world class celebration for our world class athlete. Kayla is going to be proud of Middletown when she visits tomorrow," said Judy Gilleland, City Manager.

A motorcade will escort Kayla, her family and her coach through Middletown at 6:00 pm.

An evening program will begin at 6:30 pm which will include a skydiving presentation, a speech from Kayla, a balloon release and much more.

Our own Mark Allan will be there live during 2 NEWS at 5 to bring you all the excitement of the day.
